West Bay Butterfly Counts

Please note that all of the Audubon naturalist-led butterfly counts are full and have been closed to new registrants.  We are very sorry, but in a way, pleased by the great turnout - thank you very much.

Some openings for semi-experienced butterfly counters still remain.  These walks are done without a naturalist - you would manage yourself, collect your data, take photos and send the data to Audubon for inclusion in the nationwide report.  Interested?  Contact Jon at jscoones@asri.org

Audubon Society of Rhode Island is pleased to announce our 12th annual Rhode Island Butterfly Count!  This is part of the North American Butterfly Association's annual count that tracks the health of butterfly populations across the country.

Beginners (and experts) are welcome!!  If you have not already attended a count, it is a fun, relaxed way to spend a couple of hours supporting a citizen science project.

Following is the schedule of public butterfly counts at West Bay locations.  Please note that the date and time of the Newman Farm count has been changed.
